I’m older, wiser, and cheerfully sarcastic. I’m also apt to lower the boom, so look out!
No, this is not a rant – it’s a confessional boom.
Because I’m older I can afford more expensive wines. I like spicy Zinfandel. My favorite brand is Seven Deadly Zins. Guess why? It’s spicy and nice 😉
The bolder the wine, the wiser and more enlightened I become. I become Buddha of witticisms. I do not have the spiritual gift of criticizing others. Other cats got that. I don’t have time.
But I do have the gift of wit, snappy and snark. A twist of words, the quick quip. Call me the Oscar Wilde of wine, women, and song.
The wilder the wine time, the more apt I am to sing.
Our party sang at Thanksgiving. It was a merry old time. Turkey and trimmings, stuffing and dressing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes. No gravy, but plenty of pumpkin pie. We sang “God Bless America” because the entire host knew how blessed we are to live here. And to have good friends, good food, safe times. “We Gather Together to ask the Lord’s Blessing” was also a sing-along.
We drank Pinot Noir after a bottle of champagne. We dried the wishbone and my husband and I pulled, each making a wish.
What did you drink with your Thanksgiving feast? Please tell me in the comments section for this post.
Remember when we’d buy wine and lay it down. For an interminable amount of years. No longer necessary today. We drink ’em young, right off the grocery store shelf. No waiting to sip and imbibe. No waiting to lay down if one’s had a couple of bottles. By one’s self.
Wine goes better with party. Where one can be older (because we are), wiser (because we are), and cheerfully sarcastic (because I am)
We had a veggie Thanksgiving: stuffed squash and all the trimmings like gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin-spice cornbread and cajeta crepes for dessert. I prefer Rossi Sangria with half-an-orange, but son and spouse had Coronitas. I played “Always” on baby ukulele.
The best part though, was cooking together — both my sons love to cook; I guess they take after their grandfather.
Wow! Pumpkin Spice Cornbread sounds delish, Peggy!
We used our Belgian Waffle Maker to make cornbread stuffing into crispy (you can’t eat just one) appetizers – not much turkey and traditionals after that!
