IWSG December 2 question – Are there months or times of the year that you are more productive with your writing than other months, and why?

There can be no doubt that the entire year has been the year to write, productive or not. It’s been a multi-media year, too – Zoom, zoom, zoom – to supplement for the human interaction that has been subtracted from daily life. It’s been a Netflix ‘n Chill year indeed.
Quarantine could have been a soulless state and we’ve all fortunate to have been able to immerse ourselves in human contact, albeit without hugs. This has always been the purpose of IWSG – to be a bridge to the world – and I’m proud to be an enduring member, bound to give as much (or more) than I have received. We are dedicated to scooping support and dispersing it rather than withholding.
We are all COVID escapees, whether we relished it or not, bound indoors for our personal safety. It wasn’t germs that could be caught, but an invisible, cursable virus, more virulent than most. We remained in place, without handcuffs, knowing it was best for the common good.
Writing became a safety valve for many. A refuge where anything could be said, politically correct or not. I personally moved in/out of productivity, as if the NANOWRIMO word count prevailed from mid-March, when California’s home-stay orders began, to the present. I’m feeling as if this jail time will extend until mid-March 2021.
By then I will have accumulated a pretty little sand pile – word by word – and the beaches will be open. Though chilly, that’s where I plan to celebrate my healthy escape from the dangers of COVID-19 via a vaccine.
Perhaps my husband and I will build a castle, for words have cemented our relationship.
It really has been a lost year, hasn’t it? I often remark to Hubs that it seems like just yesterday we did this or that pre-pandemic thing. Or perhaps that’s just a symptom of our age. Happy holidays to you and yours, P.J.!

It’s interesting how some writers haven’t found the strength, desire, or inspiration to work at all during Covid, while others took advantage of the “forced” stay-at-home measures to be productive and create. Writing is in the head and if the head doesn’t cooperate, no progress on the page will be made! Happy holidays, PJ!!
