I inherited my penchant for story-telling from my dad, who used incidents from his boyhood to help put us kids to sleep. I think it was a necessity because my family couldn’t afford children’s books and we lived in a very small town without a library. I adored the intermittent bedside tales.

1. turn on the World Series, largely because it was two crosstown rivals in the Bay Area, and
2. mount my exercise bicycle to watch. I was home from work, alone, because Larry was at work, at Apple Computer Company in San Jose.
