Question of the Month: When you think of the term working writer, what does that look like to you? What do you think it is supposed to look like? Do you see yourself as a working writer or aspiring or hobbyist, and if latter two, what does that look like?

Hmm… I’ve not inhabited the world of a ‘working writer’ and it was never my intent. Writing has always been a creative endeavor for me – a way to spend retirement time productively. I have been earnest with the hobby that satisfies my drive to learn and excel, so it hasn’t felt like work to fling words on a page. Creativity is key because the majority of my prior writing was college term papers, clinical reports for my speech-language pathology clients in the thousands, and letters to relatives and friends ‘back east’.

Writing has become an encore career because of my personal commitment and drive, yet I’ve grateful beyond words that I’m not required to write to make $$$. That would make writing a trick and not a treat…

Yo-ho, Yo-ho, It’s a writer’s life for me – as my choice. No rush because I’m flush (ha) as a retiree. It’s joy and I’m willing to support other writers, so I cherish being a member of the blog hop group. https://www.insecurewriterssupportgroup.com
